8 simple things to boost your general health
Aerobically and quite intensely exercise at least 2 times a day for only about 5-10 minutes each. If you can go outside to do this, the benefits of the fresh air and colder temperature will make it even better. Here's a link.
If you consider your diet to not include nearly enough fruit and vegetables, take multi-vitamin capsules. You should look to buy brand names (like Boots) because there are a lot of multivitamin packs on sale that are cheap but minimally effective. You should take the multivitamin capsules at a particular time each day (if they are 1-a-day) because then the body will get used to digesting the vitamins at that time.
Take cod liver/fish oil capsules also. These contain omega 3 fatty acids and you should know how good they are for you. It's also been documented that taking these capsules can help with depression, fighting disease in the body along with the benefits to your joints.
Get to bed at a sensible time and get plenty of sleep to fully rejuvenate your body. Read the sleeping patterns article.
When you get to bed, have a deep 5 minute think about what you can do tomorrow in terms of your work, schoolwork and life. Tasks that have to be done and what you should do tomorrow in order to stay ahead of the game make notes on paper or reminders on your mobile phone if you think its necessary for some tasks. This will help you know things to complete the following day and also it will take away a large part of your worries at night because you will feel more content and more in control.
Walk with good posture; shoulders back, spine straight and chin up. Watch your posture. Sitting, standing and walking with good posture on the move will make you look taller and leaner, open your lungs, help you breathe more easily, extend your spine and can prevent long-term injury.
Drink plenty of water. You have probably heard about the 8 glasses thing, however this is an average in-take, judge what you should drink by your size (and I'm talking lean mass). If you think your larger than average, try to drink a bit more. However, relax drinking water a few hours before going to bed because you don't want to have to get up at night. Also you don't have to stick to the 8 glasses thing if your considered average in size, drink an amount that works for you, if you find yourself continually going to the toilet don't drink as much. Your needs enough water in order for it to function properly; why not make a start and drink about 3 to 4 glasses a day, this will do you a great deal if you normally drink no water for instance (just fizzy drinks or whatever). Here's a link.
Exercise your lower and upper back at least 3 times a week (assuming you're not in some contravening medical condition). Strengthening the spine reaps all kinds of benefits, check this website.
If you weren't doing any of the above and you start doing all the above, you should notice very quickly the AMAZING effects on your energy levels, mood, organisation, concentration, fitness and skin condition they are all very simple and easy things to do.
